Troubleshooting help

Hello all! I may post an intro later. However for sake of time.
I am needing a little direction.
Where do I start?
First my PC was taking a little longer to boot, and then I would have just a wall paper with no icons and then I just got black.
I have an I3 3220. An asus mobo that says win 7 ready. I know who cares about that.

what do I test and how?
Thanks for your time.
Getting ready for church, if I need to give more info, and I am sure I will, I will get back to after lunch
Thanks again Mike.

Ones it boots does it work properly?

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

What is the make and model of the power supply unit.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Did I get enough or am I lacking? If so I’ll keep digging.

Hi Mike
Can we see if Safe mode works. If computer is on press and hold the on switch till it turns off.
Turn back on and start tapping the F8 key. You should get a menu selection with safe mode.
use the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard to select Safe Mode.
Does the computer work in safe mode?
If the computer starts in safe mode then follow the speccy instructions in post # 3

We all do on this site. That is why we are here. We would help with Win 98 if asked.
