    Which Ram do I get?

    Hi there,

I would like to get an additional 4GB of RAM to my laptop.

What RAM is compatible, which RAM do I get?

I have uploaded a few pics from the app CPU-Z to show laptop specs:

    Hello miked12,

Use the Crucial system scanner tool which you will tell you exactly what your options are.

      Hey

      Thank you for the response.

I actually did try Crucial out. The result was that it said something to the effect of ’ Crucial has no compatible ram for your system’, it did show a storage component that was compatible but I’m looking for ram.

That only tends to happen when a computer cannot be upgraded, when the present RAM is soldered into the MB for example.

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the notebook for us.

          From CPU-Z it says:

          Model: E402WAS
          Brand: American Megatrends Inc.

          Additional info from Crucial:
          [HEADING=2]VivoBook E14 E402WAS[/HEADING]

            Bad news I`m afraid

The present RAM as was mentioned previously is soldered into the MB and cannot be upgraded.

            Confirmed here

Oh that is interesting lol. I wonder why that is done? I thought this laptop had two slots so an additional ram could be installed.

To save money pure and simple, cheaper manufacturing costs etc.

Fwiw, it is not just notebook type computers that they do this on and ASUS are one of the worst for it, they use the same MB in desktops that they use in notebooks accompanied by the same type of AC adaptor to power it, support documents are next to useless as I`m sure you have already found, if not, your manual here says that the only upgrade option is for a HDD.
