    No bootable devices found

    I have a Dell Opitplex 7020 supplied refurbished with two hard drives and running Windows 10. The operating system is on an SSD which sits with velcro on top of the power supply. The machine was running properly.

    Yesterday, I installed a Graphics Card. In order to do this I had to move the SSD temporarily whilst fitting the graphics card and then return it to its velcro attachment. On rebooting the machine I had a ‘no bootable devices error’.

    I reopened the machine and found that only the power supply was attached to the SSD, the main lead was detached and I refitted it. On rebooting the machine I still have a ‘no bootable devices error’.

    I ran the full diagnostics through the F5 option, this found both hard drives and reported no errors. I went into the BIOS and an image of the boot order sequence is attached, it is Legacy with Diskette first, followed by the two hard drives. There is no floppy or DVD drive on the machine.

    Is it possible that booting the machine the first time without the SSD attached could have caused this problem? I would appreciate advice on what to do next.

      Remove the cables for the SDD and re attach.

      may have ruined that drive PSU do and or can put off a lot of heat.

      Is the drive seen in BIOS?

      Remove all the other drive and just have the SSD attached and see if that does anything.

        Yes it’s on the BIOS, after Diskette, as Hitachi plus its ref no and was part of the F5 diagnostics. Please see the attachment with my original post.
        I think the only other drive is a SATA hard drive, do you mean remove all cables including power?

          Should those checkboxes on the left of the devices in the image be selected? I thought they were just for setting the order but maybe not?

            Yes remove the power and data and reseat the data cable that is attached to the board just to rule that out.
            What is the boot order in BIOS

            Put the SSD before Hitachi see if that make a difference could be going to that one and not finding an OS an stopping there.

              The boot order is as per the image I posted. I believe Hitachi is the SSD with operating system and the SATA hard drive is already after that.

                [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]1 = NON SSD
                2 = SSD

                Fix the boot order and see if that correct the issue also try the information and see if that makes a difference.

                  Thanks, I saw SATA and assumed that was not SSD.
                  I will move it up the order, should Diskette still be first?

                    Does not matter on the Diskette unless there is a disk in there.

                      Do you mind if I add to the post ?
                      Unless I am not seeing everything. Nothing on the list has a tick next to it. You need to have a tick next to Hitachi to add it to the boot menu.
                      I am assuming that because nothing is ticked nothing will boot.

                      Cheers

                          Thanks PeterOz, yes I did raise the question of the unticked checkboxes. I’m not sure if those are just used to select devices to set the order but I will have a go later and let you both know. From Rustys information, I think the tick would need to be next to the SSD which he has identified with a 2 in the image, rather than the Hitachi.

                              The tick boxes choose what items are available to boot from. So if ssd is No.2
                              put a tick next to No.2
                              If add boot option comes available click on that
                              F10 to save and exit
