Spare Hard Drive Full and can't work out why

    Hello,

I have a 1Tb spare hard drive in my PC which uwas supposed to be there for additional storage space and for back ups, however it has been completely filled and I have no idea why. I know that the backup is taking up a stupid amount of space, and I have set it so that what it backs up is limited (its still stupidly big in my opinion), but as you can see from the image below there is 803GB being used, only 275GB of which is for the backup, so anyone any idea what the rest of it is, why I can’t see it and how do I get rid of it?

    Thanks

go into Control Panel, Admin Tools, Computer Management, Disk management, and look at the partitions on that drive. that may explain the missing space.

that \Stuff\ folder looks like crap - like it is corrupted or something.

for me, while in Disk Management, I would blow away all partitions on that drive and reformat it and do a fresh backup.

then if and when things start getting written to it that you aren’t aware of, you’ll have a date/time stamp to work off. maybe it’s being used to dump temp, cache or otherwise unimportant files to by the system. maybe you have some software using it for temp storage like AutoCAD or Photoshop.
