If the MB was the exact same it would be expected to be ok but if the board was a different revision number you can have problems, never an issue for me as a new MB always gets a clean install regardless.
My PC has been temperamental lately

How has this been determined, by the computer not booting and you then checking in the BIOS and finding that the SSD is not listed in the boot order.Comment

Try swapping the cables from the HDD over to the SSD and likewise connect the present cables connected to the SSD over to the HDD, this will rule out a bad power or data cable.Comment

No worries on our behalf but there is just one problem with that and that is, if it is the SATA port on the MB that has the problem you will still have the same problem when you connect the new SSD to the port using the new SATA cable.
Doing the suggested test rules the SATA port + the SATA power and data cables in or out as the cause of the issue/s.
You should also make sure that any new SSD that you purchase actually ships with a SATA cable, they cost literally pennies to make but if you have purchased an OEM device, commonly known as a bare drive they do not ship with a SATA cable.Comment

Check the user manual for the MB to make sure that the SATA port that you use will allow you to boot the new SSD from it, not all SATA ports on every MB allow boot devices to be connected to them, you should also make sure that you connect the drive to one of the faster SATA 6.0Gbps ports and not one of the slower 3.0 type.
Don`t forget the warning that you HDD is showing.

Don`t forget, install Windows, install the chipset and SATA drivers for the MB, install the GPU drivers and only then should you check for and install any Windows 10 updates.

Few questions if I may;
Have you been able to successfully install Windows.
Did you try to install the chipset drivers first.
What chipset drivers did you try to install and where did they come from.Comment
