    Video card shuts down

I have an HP Omen desktop pc running windows 10. I currently have an AMD Radeon RX580 video card that shuts down every time I try to play a video game. It works fine any other time. I can search the web, watch movies and videos with VLC Media Player. But every time I try to play a video game, the graphics card shuts down. I took the card out and cleaned it, so I don’t think it’s an overheating issue. Any idea what might be wrong? also when the card shuts down, i get no error messages.

We need to know complete system specs make and models including the PSU

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Like @phillpower2 has stated Lite-On should stick to making optical drives as they can`t make PSUs that’s for sure

Yes it is rated at a 500 watt PSU the most you can get out of it is 420 watt and maybe 470 Watt

Wouldn’t my pc have come with the proper PSU for the hardare installed? The pc is approximately 3 years old and I just started having this issue about 2 days ago. I was able to play video games up until then.

It would be nice if they did. Most will put just what you need to get by with.

Like you stated it is three years old things do wear out and loose potency over time.

You could see if a friend or some one has a PSU that is the same wattage or better to see.
Or even a similar display card.

@Bruce @phillpower2 see what others suggest

We can see a few things going on in Speccy but before elaborating on them we will need to see a fully up to date Windows 10, there has not been a single update installed since Windows was installed in March of last year and trying to troubleshoot a computer that is so far out of date is like trying to stop the rain from coming down.[/COLOR]
