    Ram dying?

    Hi,

sometimes my PC starts to reboot once or twice after turning it on, but yesterday my pc booted five or more times after turning it on, every time.

So i cleaned all parts took everything out and put it back in. My Pc only recognised one ram stick. So i took the faulty one out, after cheking which one it was.

Everything seemed fine again, after turning my PC one and off without any reboots, my PC started to reboot again. Is my other Ram dying too now?

Thx very much for any help.

        The PSU should never have been used anywhere near a GTX 1080Ti or for even the most basic of add on GPUs for that matter, what Corsair say about their CX range of PSU;

“CX Series power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise” note the word basic.

Which power supply do you need?

Try removing the add on GPU from the PCI-E slot on the MB and hooking up the display to the appropriate video port on the MB.

Remove the GTX 1080Ti from the PCI-E slot on the MB, connect the display to the appropriate video port on the MB and see how the computer behaves, you could try the least demanding games that you have but you will not be able to play on ultra settings or the like.

The PC is safer to use with the GTX 1080Ti removed than it is with it still in the computer.

Sorry to be blunt but did you happen to read anything about the person behind that list, where they are from or how old they are etc.

The list is a pile of doo da I`m afraid, the person that wrote the blog was 21yrs of age and from a country where standards and quality are somewhat questionable

Only three of the PSUs at your link would be recommended for use by any reputable forum but then again they would not be advised for another reason, they are way overkill and would be costing you a fortune for something that you do not need, check the links in my sig and you will see that Themaltake and Rosewill are on the avoid list/s, the Dell PSU at the link would not even fit in a standard ATX case.

I would do the suggested testing before worrying about replacing the PSU, the outcome of any tests may change your options.

                  You are welcome

So i took the GPU out, turned the PC on and off a couple of times over the two days, had one restart after starting the PC, but overall had no issues. So the PSU combined with the GPU is the culprit?

Nope, the PSU on its own, lets just hope that no harm has been done to the GPU.

Seasonal (Seasonic) Focus GX 650W Gold covered by a ten year warranty, 91.90 € from here

That would be a nightmare. Thanks man, I ordered it. Is the current PSU still generally usable? i want to sell it in ebay.

The PSU should be fine when used appropriately as in a basic desktop, be sure to emphasise this when you sell it, you don[ICODE]t want the wrong person to purchase it then say it won[/ICODE]t work with their RTX 2080 and ask for their cash back, if the PSU still has warranty you should mention that as well.

                          You are welcome btw

When i took my GPU out, i also took the Soundcard out. Now i put my soundcard in again, just to get some quality sound back and the problem occured again. two reboots after starting my PC. Took it out again, no issues anymore. Now i am really confused. Is it still the PSUs fault? Should i take the risk and put my GPU in and see what happens? Remembering back, but i am not 100% sure, after taking everything apart and cleaning, i had no issues using it for a couple of hours, after puting my soundcard in, the issue came back up.

The extra add on card could be using just enough power to trigger the issue when the GPU is also in the board, this possibility asides and as previously mentioned the present PSU should never have been used anywhere near a build such as yours.

I would try the audio card again once you have the appropriate PSU supporting your system.
