Shut downs

So i was originally gonna call it “Random shut downs” but i have sort of found a pattern and don’t really know what to do with that information. So my PC likes to completely shut down under certain conditions.

1. I have a vape i like to plug into the USB 3.0 port on the case to charge it. However when i do, PC shuts off.
2. I have a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. Plug it in, shuts off.
3. Run a semi intense game, shuts off.

Now i’ve ruled out over heating as an issue. Simply nothing gets hot enough to cause concern. Honestly i’m on the fence about it being a driver issue or a hardware issue. I’ve looked at my outdated drivers and the PCI drivers were out of date and have been updated. The USB drivers are up to date. Furthermore the connections on the motherboard and the modular power supply have been checked and re seated. I have no idea what to do next. Help would be appreciated.

CPU: amd ryzen 5 3600
GPU: PNY geforce 1060 3gb
Motherboard: ASUS TUF X570-plus
Power supply: Modular Coolermaster 650w Gold
RAM: Corsair 8g x2
Case: Corsair - ICUE 220T RGB Airflow ATX mid-tower smart case
Storage: 1x HDD 1T, 1x SSD samsung 500GB
HDD has OS on it.

im thinking it could be both. Yes the USB is doing a fucky wucky, but it does also just turn off trying to run certain games. Would you agree? The USB ports causing me trouble is the ones on the case and the ones on the board. so i could buy a new PSU but then how would i fix all the USBs?

Do you have a model name or number for the PSU.

Cooler Master have not made a decent PSU for many years and to get even a half decent one it needed to be at least Gold efficiency rated, the last of these being made between 2010 and 2012.

Cannot comment on the vape as I have never had any dealings with them.

Having not heard of your 212 audio device I needed to use Google, have you seen the info here at all, the USB 3.2 ports could be the cause of the problem.

For initial troubleshooting I would suggest that we take the vape and 212 audio device out of the equation by keeping them disconnected from the computer.

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Not a good PSU I`m afraid, the model has a very high failure rate with many of them failing within twelve months, an example of feedback for the PSU can be found here

While we look at the Speccy report, one thing I will suggest is that you change the Windows Power Plan to Balanced, High Performance is a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues and a weak PSU such as the one that you have will get hotter and weaker the more that you use it
