Computer freezing when playing graphically intensive games.

I’ve had this issue for years and learnt to live with it, but recently it’s got much worse and my pc is unusable. My whole computer will freeze at random when I’m playing a 3D game or working with complex meshes in Blender.

Sounds already playing in a game will continue, such as music, but no new sounds will start. The screen will either freeze or go black and the fans speed up to max speed, if I wait about 30 seconds it will restart itself.

I’ve tried replacing the GPU, which is now an RTX 2060s.
I’ve tried rewiring the computer and reseating the CPU which is an i7 5820k.
I’ve tried reinstalling windows, drivers.
I’ve checked hardware monitor while it happens and there is no overheating.
yeah also vs660 PSU, X99A raider motherboard, 2x hyperx fury 8gb ddr4 ram, 2tb hard drive, 250gb ssd with windows on

please help any ideas please and thank you

Should not be used anywhere near a computer that has an add on GPU and most certainly something high end like an RTX 2060 Super.

VS = value series which are beneath even the CX range which Corsair only recommended for as they put it;

CX Series Modular power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.

Which power supply do you need?

Fingers crossed for you that the PSU has not damaged your GPU and with keeping this in mind as always suggest, get your GPU tested before you do anything else.

I thank you for the good advice I will replace the PSU, would a Corsair rm750x suffice?

Great PSU but more than what you need both output and outlay wise, less expensive option here your call though.
