New pc not showing display?

Hello!

I just got my new computer in the mail. I bought a prebuilt one off of ebay:

I just started it up for the first time and it all seems to be working well, however my computer will not detect my monitor. I have an LG 22MN430H-B monitor and have tried on a tv as well with hdmi connection. There’s only one slot for hdmi on my computer that plugs directly into gpu. I’ve tried unplugging and replugging some things inside the computer, tried different cords, and took out and put the ram back in.

I know bare minimum about computers (hence why I bought a prebuilt one) and would appreciate any help!

Any chance that you can post the model name or number of the motherboard, a picture of the back of the case where your screen is hooked up would also be helpful if you can.

Actually I just found it, it’s LGA 1155

LGA 1155 is the socket type not the brand or model name or number of the board, can you take a picture of the MB itself, not too close but close enough for us to be able to see any information that may be stamped on it.

Have you made sure that the 6 pin PCI-E supplemental power dongle from the PSU to the GPU is connected and securely, make sure that the computer is disconnected from the mains electric when you check this.

I notice that your screen and the computer both have a VGA port, do you have a VGA cable.

Sorry haha, I asked the seller, it’s an intel B75 board.

I wouldn’t mind trying that but I’m really not good with computers and I’m not really sure what you mean but all that.

And i’ve also already tried VGA cable, doesn’t seem to work either

That is only the chipset not the brand and model name of the board but no worries as being that you are not confident about this I suggest that you seek the help of someone that you know who is.

When you tried the VGA cable did you remove the add on video card first, the onboard video will not work if there is an add on GPU in the board no matter whether or not the add on GPU is working.

Um I didn’t do anything, I just plugged in the vga, How would I remove the video card? Do I disconnect the gpu? and is that the 6 pin clip?

The add on GPU needs to be disconnected from the 6 pin power dongle and then physically removed from the MB, you really shouldn’t be having to do this yourself but instead taking it up with the person that sold you the computer, if there is any warranty on the computer you risk voiding it by tinkering with it yourself.

Just a fyi, we can see from your last pic that theMB is a Biostar

He said I can keep it and he’ll refund me 50$ or I can send it back for a full refund. But I think I’m just going to take it to a shop and get it diagnosed before I send it back for a refund.

Ask someone that you know and trust first, you just may save yourself $50
