I bought a gtx 1660 from a seller online who I think was thrust worthy. When I installed the GPU, and I connected turned on my pc, the ventilators of the GPU started spinning, but my screen stayed black and evetually didn’t turn on.
that card has a 8pin power connector - have you plugged in a power cable for that?
and you plug the screen cable into the new card?
what other cables does your screen support, and have you tried the other sort?

My monitor has a VGA port, and I use it with an HDMI adapter. This worked perfectly with my gtx 1060. My Psu has a 6+2 pin power connector, and again, this also worked well. I’ll probably buy a VGA - displayport adapter and a 6+2 pin to 8 pin adapter. I dont know what else should I do.
I’d be trying to avoid the adapter approach if possible.
what ports are on the screen and what are on the card?
then get a direct cable between the two.
at least that way you are crossing off the adapter as the potential cause.
of course, it could be a dodgy card!
put the original card back in and see if it all works on that.
I put back the origoinal card and my pc works with that. My monitor has a VGA and the gtx 1660 has 3 displayport and a HDMI, so I’ll probably buy a displayport - VGA cabel and try with that.
any chance you know someone with a monitor that has a HDMI port (as they are pretty common)?
friend, family, neighbour?
would be a shame to buy another cable only to find out it has been the card all along.

I talked to technician about this and he said it’s probably the monitor, because I have an old, 1366x768 monitor with a VGA cable. So I guess I have to by a new monitor.
