    2.5ghz cpu vs 3.0ghz cpu

Hi, I’m wanting to upgrade my CPU. Will i see a noticeable difference in speed with the .5ghz increase.
I have an INTEL CORE2 QUAD Q8300 and looking to get the INTEL CORE2 EXTREME QX9650.

I have found that the theoretical increase would be 14% from 2.5 to 3.0ghz but again this doesn’t tell me if it is a noticable difference and worth spending £50 on the new cpu.

You may notice a slight increase with different things.
You might notice a more of an increase of you update the RAM Max is 8 GB
The other thing that you may want to think about is getting a newer updated system with a secure operating system. Windows 7 is no longer secure and supported by Microsoft.

To be honest save your money and purchase a new and or build you own system.

Ok thanks for the reply. It’s been a bit of a project so I’ve already updated ram to 8gb @800mhz, new 2gb graphics card and 650w PSU. Windows 10 running pretty smooth. Next will be the SSD but think will stop there if not much point in upgrading the CPU. It makes you think tho how much the difference is between the two CPUs as used the Q8300 is £7 and the QX9650 £50.

                Not a problem.
To be honest with the demand of most new software and hardware still suggest saving and upgrading to a newer system.

Cheers. Yeah may do at some point and have some components already to get me started. (Hence the move from a 250w to 650w PSU! )
