Sorry should have included that the keyboard and mouse are ok in USB 3.0 ports but not devices that you are using to transfer data to or from, the most common problem that people have for example is when they try and install Windows via a USB 3.0 port, it doesn’t seem to go too well a lot of the time.

Ok then I can just use the 2.0 port for the USB.
In an earlier post you talked about the motherboard and the returned GPU and the storage being left.Comment

Other than the GPU anything that can be tested has been properly tested and come back as being ok, the two things that we cannot test are the MB and the PSU, the PSU you have replaced so makes it 99.99% less likely as the cause which only leaves the MB itself and with the continuous errors that you keep getting all being the same it looks like the problem is with the SATA ports which in turn is what your storage devices are connected to.Comment

Just that I am on your side of thought. I have errors using a drive with SATA connection and I have errors using a drive with M.2 connection. We can not test the GPU nor MB. So we have a choice. Am I reading that right or can you provide some clarification?Originally posted by phillpower2same it looks like the problem is with the SATA ports which in turn is what your storage devices are connected to.Comment

Sorry but did not say that we could not test the GPU but rather “Other than the GPU anything that can be tested has been properly tested and come back as being ok”
For clarity, never mentioned the M2 device in my reply #78 as it was not in the board at the time but like the SATA ports the M2 card is a storage device so is in the same category as SATA storage devices.
Condensed version, other than the PSU the only two items that have to be present throughout are the GPU ** and the MB, the GPU has been sent away and supposedly repaired so if you were asked out of the two which one would you suspect as the cause.
** The GPU and M2 card sharing bandwidth could be what is causing the M2 device problems.
Best course of action if you can would be to borrow a friends GPU and try it in your computer, you have nothing else left to test I`m afraid.Comment

Apart from the obvious swapping of components a new MB would mean another clean install of Windows and drivers etc, having to contact MS to get your Windows key activated with the replacement board + the unwelcome cost, easy for me because we have spares but if in a similar situation in that there was no spare components and no way of getting the add on GPU tested locally I would go on one of the well known selling sites and purchase a low priced but half decent add on video card to test in the system, you could always resell it again later.Comment

Thinking about it and having spare RAM and PSU I searched for some models I think I have narrowed it to 2.- Radeon RX 570 ~150€
- NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti ~120-150€
What do you think ?Comment

I wasn`t thinking about spending that much tbh, it is only for testing purposes, something used but 100% guaranteed to be working by the seller is what I had in mind.Comment

I am thinking ahead for me. The laptop I am currently using might brick anytime soon and with the old PSU and old RAM I have in any case a GPU for it and only need a MB and CPU. If the GPU is at fault I am using the new GPU until I think I need an upgrade and if the MB is at fault I have the spare GPU for the backup system. This was my train of thought.Comment

If you purchase a new MB and end up with two working boards you will then need to purchase a new Windows product key, having an inexpensive add on GPU for testing is a good thing to have tbh, your call though.Comment

Do you mean that in the way of me having 2 systems using Windows? I was planning to use Windows only on the currently broken system and on the backup I would install a light Linux OS.Originally posted by phillpower2If you purchase a new MB and end up with two working boards you will then need to purchase a new Windows product key,
Mb I have thought wrong about a backup system and set my requirement to high. So a card for max 70€ would be great for testing and backup.Comment

Having Linux on the back up system along with an add on GPU that you could use for testing is a good idea, see what you can find for your budget and let us know.Comment

I think this card fits for me. It got 128 bit and min 400 W which suits the old PSU of 500 W and the new one. I had also looked at another model but it was 64 bit which should not fit. It is listed by my retailer for about 63€. Did I miss something like when choosing the old PSU?Comment
