Pc not showing display!!

    I found some pc in my basement and it turned out to be p5e3 ws pro mobo. It has a core two quad q5500. It also has 1tb harddrive and 2 dvd players. 4 fans including cpu fan. And two gtx 550tis’ in sli. Sadly not ram. I bought a single ram stick (pny 8gb ddr3 pc3-12800 1600mhz) and it didnt work. I found out the max capacity was 8 and it had a dual channel architecture. So i bought a 2x4gb corsair vengeance ddr3 1600mhz. And it finallt came in and it didnt work. The display was still not appearing. I hope you can help me. Also i used dvi dual link cable to connect to a monitor.

    Looking at the ASUS specs and memory support list here you will need to get yourself four Xs 2GB sticks of RAM, the 8GB limit for the MB does not allow for two 4GB sticks only 4Xs2GB sticks, example RAM here

      Hmm. I am kind of confused on how that would work because it only supports a dual channel. 2 slots for ddr3 and 2 for ddr2

        The MBs QVL only lists DDR3, no DDR2 on it and the ASUS homepage says;

        4 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

        From where did you get the “2 slots for ddr3 and 2 for ddr2” info from.

            Which is the MB here

            Edit to add: You should also be aware that both boards have the same 2GB maximum memory per slot, the 3GB, 4GB and 6GB that are on the list are made up of kits such as 1GB + 2GB, 2GB + 2GB and for 6GB 2GB + 2GB + 2GB etc.
