Hey everyone,
So i got a PC from one of my buddies; a bit older but it was good enough for small games which is what i want it for. The problem I’m having is when i turn it on I’m getting beep codes and no display. After looking into the beeps (2 short 1 long, repeats 5 times) what i think it’s telling me is “unable to initialize video card, no display”. The computer is an HP model number HPE-421f.
I took the computer apart and cleaned absolutely everything. Removed the graphics card, cleaned it and replaced it, making sure it’s seated properly. Removed memory sticks (i think?) And RAM (maybe?) Cleaned them and re-seated them. I even removed the power unit (i think that’s what it’s called, thing you plug into) and cleaned that as well.
So my question is, how do i know what is actually wrong? I’m totally okay with replacing parts, but my issue is i don’t actually know enough to be confident that it is the graphics card that needs fixing and not something else. And along with that i don’t know what type of graphics card i should even get without being able to get onto the PC to grab certain specs and Google what the best option is. I’m stuck not knowing enough information about the PC to confidently start ordering parts.
Any help or suggestions would be phenomenal, I’m at my wits ends haha.
Thanks!
