Sudden FPS drop

Hello, I have Geforce msi gtx1060 gaming x 6gb graphic card for 2 years

4 Days ago my FPS droped for nothing in every game, from basic 150+ at full details to 20-40 at any details. Every game is now unplayable.

I tried reinstaling games, restarting PC, restarting BIOS, Reinstaling gpu completely and gpu drivers. i tried some tricks from youtube.
But its still not working properly, and I cant paly anything, does anyone know what can I do with that ?

Thanks, David

Hello David,

Can you tell us some of the games involved.

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Can we have this info if you will, we will also have to check your temps and voltages at some point.

Being English there was a lot that I couldn`t understand but from what I could the only two things of note looks to be high memory usage and slow internet connection, test your GPU offline first.

Use the free versions at the following links;

Stress test your GPU with Furmark

For Windows 10: Check your FPS etc with SUPERPOSITION

Fps are same without internet, and RAM is ok.
maybe its cuz of I have 95° C on CPU, i have Kraken M22

Decent PSU.

Have you run the two tests that were suggested.

Never said that there was anything wrong with the RAM but did mention something was using a lot of it.

Physical Memory
Memory Usage: 31 %

Disregard the CPU temp in Speccy for some reason it misreports Ryzen temps.

Thanks for the new Speccy url, shows the same two things.

Open Task Manager, click on the memory and process tabs, leave it for a couple of minutes then make a note of what is using so much of your RAM.

Hello in second link, something is in english, but not all, IDK why its not all in english.

I tried first one, there are results

Second one is donwloading very slowly

I just replaced cooling paste on CPU, but its still showin 90-100°C, so iI think is problem just visual. Or its problem with cooling watter…

There is my Task manager screen, IDK why its showing 33% if I have 16gb
But it looks there is lot of duplicated stuff

You are correct, your FPS are well down but no idea why as your temps are very good so the card is not throttling back.

Chrome is using up the memory so it may have a memory leak, try reinstalling it.

What is telling you the CPU temps are so high.

Going offline soon as I have an early start but well check back asap tomorrow.

Ill try reinstalling chrome.

Speecy is telling me that CPU has 93-102°C
CAM for kraken is telling me its over 75° to 82°C

I also dont know what is wrong with that FPS, it was ok last Thursday butthan it destroyed idk how.
My displays did something, that my wallpaper was full green instead of picture and my toolbar disapeared, after this there was an FPS problem in everything

I specifically mentioned this in my reply #6 so you have risked damaging the CPU for no reason.

What you describe in your reply #10 can be caused by a couple of things, bad overclock, heat and an outside chance drivers.

From your reply #3;

Can you tell us what your mean by “Everything on max details” and how you went about configuring the settings to get these “max details”

Your GPU looks to be unable to function to its original capability and what is suggesting this is the card being able to get through the Furmark test and with temperatures not going above 64°C, your GPU would normally hit circa 85°C when being stress tested by Furmark so no way was your GPU working to how it would be expected.

Hello, Im reading everything but im not that good at understanding computers.

CPU is okay, its only showing 95° I think, because the fan is not going so fast and CPU is not that hot.

I dont have any outside drivers, heat is not there and i didnt overclock anything.

Im using nvidia game experience, there is mode optimalize the game, and it sets everything on highest what is possible and good.

Maybe there is some problem with GPu, because fans on it are never running, or I have never seen/hear them running.

I was thinking also if it cant be some Virus, but eset is not showing anything. Beacuse its showing 95° CPU, but really its not that hot. FPS are very low, and 34% on RAM is realy strange, cuz of its showing 34% when there is only 1.5GB used from 16GB…

What I actually meant was that there is an outside chance that bad drivers could cause the issue, there is no such thing as outside drivers.

The fans on your GPU are thermally controlled and speed up and slow down as and when required, if the fans were not working at all the GPU would have melted by now.

Run the following two programs and post screenshots of both results.

Download Speedfan and install it. Once it’s installed, run the program and post here the information it shows. The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.

So that we have a comparison to Speedfan, download, run and grab a screenshot of HWMonitor (free).
