Pc problem

Sorry but must have crossed wires, how did you manage to back up your data if you cant get on the PC, its not life threatening if you can`t back up the drivers, it just would have been easier and quicker if you had them close to hand.

You will need a 16GB USB thumbdrive, go here (option 2) and download the latest Windows 10 ISO then post back.

I will be busy for a while today but will be dropping in and out meanwhile, the above will take a while to download and I will hopefully be finished with what I am working on by then.

When I first loaded safe mode I was able to back up data. When I tried to load safe with networking got the error, now can’t load either. Also I don’t have a 16gb usb only 8gb.
Is there anyway to work out what part is broken in the pc as I can probably replace it. Thanks for ur help

Don[ICODE]t know about you but I[/ICODE]m glad that you backed up the data as was suggested, you have had a close call there.

Couple of things that could be broken and unfortunately you will need either a 16GB thumbdrive or if your computer has a DVD drive a Windows 10 installation disk or a downloaded ISO that has been burned to a DVD disk.

The HDD could be failing, Windows itself could be corrupt so whatever happens you will need Windows 10 media to fix this.

As per my replies 10 and 18;

That suggests a hardware problem so you perhaps have more than one issue going on I`m afraid

The HDD could be failing, Windows itself could be corrupt so whatever happens you will need Windows 10 media to fix this.

The Automatic repair info in the screenshot in your OP is a Windows problem and the problem possibly caused by a failing HDD.

The lines in the picture in the screenshot in your OP could have been caused by a driver issue but since the lines are still there in Safe Mode it makes a driver issue less likely and points more towards a hardware problem.

To put it in a nutshell, there are now two confirmed issues, we cannot troubleshoot either with a computer that will not boot into Windows and so are trying to repair the present Windows installation so that you do not lose any of your data.

If the HDD is on the way out the repair installation will most likely fail which while not ideal it will at least tell us how to fix one of the problems and that we need to recover your data another way, if we are able to that is.

NB: Benefits of you having the ISO, you should always have the latest version of Windows available to be ready for issues such as this and should the HDD be confirmed as bad you already have your Windows ISO ready to install on any new storage device.

When I try to chose upgrade installation I get this message [ATTACH type=“full”]6063[/ATTACH]
Obviously I can’t do this as I can’t load windows normally. When I choose custom installation it says windows can’t be installed on any of the drives ( I assume as there is not enough space) I have to option to format the drives but would lose data. Tbh I don’t think I have any data on the pc that is too important outside of what I have already backed up so I wouldn’t be opposed to formatting one of the drives if that what u recommend . Thanks

I was mid way through typing the following;

A clean install of Windows 10 and the system drivers may be your only option by the looks of it, what version of Windows were you running 1909 being the latest and 1903 the previous.

When I choose custom installation it says windows can’t be installed on any of the drives [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]( I assume as there is not enough space) I have to option to format the drives

Can you post a pic of the screen for us [COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]** + tell us what internal storage devices the computer has.

[COLOR=rgb(184, 49, 47)]** You can get such an issue on HDD or a partition on a HDD that has bad sectors or when Windows tries to install to a System reserved partition such as in your pic, Windows 10 creates two such partitions when it installs

Tbh I don’t know which version of windows I was running. Is there a way to find out. To do the clean install should I just format one of the drives. I think I’m gonna buy a new hard drive

At the Advanced options see if you are able to open Command Prompt, post back and let us know.

Not possible to say what version of Windows you have if it will not load.
