    Exploded psu

    Hello

I have an old psu model - cooler master Extreme Power Plus 650W (RS-650-PCAR-E3) … Few days ago I tried to turn on the pc and the psu kinda exploded.. Opened up to check and some components we’re fried including a transistor.. I guess the explosion occurred because of running on 115v instead of 230

Anyway, the problem is that the transistor info is totally gone and I can’t buy a replacement as I don’t know the right one to buy

Any have an idea about the unit’s internal design?

Would’ve replaced it but prices gone rocket high so can’t afford at the moment

    Welcome to PCHF Mesmeric,

Please be aware that there are no user replaceable parts in a PSU so a bad one should be disposed of in a responsible manner and any type of conclusive testing will need to be done by a suitably trained Tech who has the required testing equipment and the relevant knowledge as to how to use it.

Thanks for the reply… This I know and a specialised tech is taking care of the matter and he is the one who requested asking about the transistor

With respect if the “Specialised tech” is unable to source parts to effect repairs then it would suggest that a replacement PSU be purchased. This would also be more cost affective than risking a repair to a used unit.
