Trouble after adding additional RAM to my computer

Hello friends, this is my first post on this forum

I’m trying to add 4GB RAM to my computer (K20CE), but are facing some challenges:

[li]When RAM installed my computer won’t boot. Removing it computer boots ok. Grounded myself and checked that RAM was seated firmly in slot.[/li][li]Updating BIOS to newest version makes no difference.[/li][li]Tried another borrowed similar RAM to rule out faulty RAM-stick. Same thing occurs with other RAM.[/li][/ul]
I am no computer expert. Hoping that someone has had similar issues regarding this and can help me in the right direction. Can it be that my computer does not handle additional RAM? Strange since there is one free RAM-slot on the motherboard.

The RAM that you have purchased requires 1.5V while the voltage delivered to the memory slots on the MB is only 1.35V, you can confirm this for yourself by cross referencing the specs at the two memory links in your reply #4 and the Speccy report in your reply #6.

The ram package I have says 1.35V and has product number CT51264BF160BJ. I see now that the ram crucial recommends is called CT51264BF160B. These two ram types looks identical in the webshop i purchased my ram. Both are 1.35/1.5V.[/color]

Not sure what you mean by “Both are 1.35/1.5V.”

I`m not seeing anywhere in your thread where you mention removing the present 4GB stick of RAM and trying the new stick of RAM in the same slot, is the present stick of RAM removable, reason I am asking is because Crucial says that there is 2GB of non removable RAM but Speccy reports 4GB, the max supported memory for your MB is 8GB so the 10GB reported by Crucial would not be expected to work tbh.

The website where I bought the ram says 4GB 1600MHz (PC3L-12800) DDR3L, CL11, SODIMM, 204pin, 1.35V/1.5V
To me and my uneducated eyes it looks like the ram can handle both 1.35V and 1.5V based on the product description. This is the bought ram.
The ram already pre-installed can not be removed as far as i can see. This is my MB.

Gotcha, the RAM being the (L) low voltage type will work with both 1.35 and 1.5V, there is one proviso when it comes to working at 1.35V though, any existing RAM in the board must also be 1.35V capable.

This has got me scratching my head a bit and for a couple of reasons, the support for the computer from ASUS is non existent and the Crucial results are somewhat contradictory.

What ASUS say: *If K20CE desktop PC users have memory upgrade demand, please check with ASUS service center for assistance.

The Crucial results, have you noticed that the stick of RAM at the top of your results page is for a desktop and the other three for a notebook?

Is it possible to take the other side of the computer case off to see if there is another memory slot on the MB that is populated.

Not possible to remove the other side of the computer case.
Starting to think that the computer does not support anymore ram and that the extra ram-slot they have inserted is just some spare parts they put in there for laughs :ROFLMAO:

The MB in your computer is similar to that of a notebook and they often have a memory slot on both sides of the MB, one that can be accessed via removing the bottom cover or a service hatch on the bottom cover and the other slot which is normally beneath the keyboard requires the notebook to be almost completely dismantled to get to it, the RAM beneath the keyboard is often referred to as non customer serviceable or non removable in the notebooks user manual which is pretty much like your computer.
