    5 beeps, stuck on startup

Problem: On startup, my monitor turns on and shows its usual loading screen. Then it beeps 5 short beeps before telling me its repairing some error. This takes a few minutes. Then it beeps 5 times again, and shows it’s usual loading screen as if everything was normal. It shows this indefinitely and I’m unable to do anything but force it to shut down.

    Some background:
PC is 5,5 years old. Has run mostly problem-free.
For the past week or so start up has been quite slow, but this may also be because the boot disc has been quite full (It’s an SSD)
The motherboard model is: MICROSTAR Model-MS-7849.
It has been cleaned of dust, so that’s not the problem

I’m far from a computer expert. Suffice it to say I know a processor from a motherboard

Thank you in advance, I really am quite desperate

EDIT: I’m careful with professionals. I have been scammed by a highly popular and recommended one before. I’m also afraid they will delete everything on my harddrive before they even start.

If you are afraid of loosing your files un-plug your internet for now.

Thank you for the quick response!

Regarding specs I’m limited to what I can remember and see in the computer without moving anything (I’m too much of an amateur)
      RAM 16 GB
      GPU is a GTX 1070
      CPU is an i7-5000 something

What I really need to find out is what the 5 short beeps mean. For this, surely the motherboard model will suffice? Again, I really don’t know much about tech.

I have experienced no blue screens as of late.
However, I have experienced some weird performance issues in Red Dead 2 during cutscenes. It may be unrelated.

      I don’t understand why I should unplug my internet…?

CORRECTION: It is 3rd generation, not 5th!

To narrow down some more information that is needed and not just the mother board is not needed. When we ask for information it is to narrow down the issue.

What us the make and model of the system?
What release, version and maker is the BIOS?

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

This does not include any power supply information you will need to include he make and model.

          This could be
          Video
          Motherboard
          Power
          Display
          Check Sum
          RAM
          HDD

I have gotten into BIOS. I should have done this earlier, but I didn’t know how to do it until a friend of mine explained it.
            SPECS in attached file.

You are or are not able to get into the system?

Take it that you have not backed up any of your personal data?

What operating system, Version, Release and Desktop Environment are you running?

Does the system have onboard display? If so can you remove the display card and connect to the onboard display and see if that helps.

I am not able to get into the system. I’m stuck on startup. Operating system is windows 10. Latest version afaik. I don’t know what onboard display is, so I assume I don’t have it

I think I know what you mean now. You want me to disconnect the GPU and connect my monitor directly to the motherboard, right?

that is correct remove the display card and connect to the motherboard. This would tell us if there is an issue with the graphics card. From what I can tell for a quick search there is onboard display.

Thank you for checking in on me!
I hadn’t responded as I was in the process of trouble shooting and I wanted to be as detailed as possible if it didn’t work.

Anyway GOOD NEWS! Although the SSD is old, the problem was actually with Windows. Doing a fresh install of windows worked. Although I did make a backup, it kept all the files intact. Case closed!
