I am not sure what this noise is.

I had a shipping label to rma the gpu until I put a friends old 970 in as a temporary replacement. It still makes the same noise. It goes away after running for about 5 minutes. It always starts at startup after sitting for more than a few hours shut down. It’s not any of the case fans either. Please help.

        my guess is a bearing.
get a soft bristled brush and jab it into each fan your see, even the one in the power supply (there may be two, backside and underside).
sounds like a seized bearing that spins for half a revolution, almost seizes then frees up and spins for another half revolution.

the only things that it could be are things that move, and you have ruled out a hard drive, leaving only anything with a fan or the DVD unit.

because it goes away eventually, if my bearing theory pans out, I reckon it warms up and spins freely.

Could be the pump. To test that, with the PC turned on, get a long screwdriver and put the blade of the screwdriver on the pump body and hold the handle of the screwdriver to your ear. You will soon hear if the noise is the pump or not. That same test will work for any other components that you suspect of making the noise. Do be careful not to short out anything though.
