    PC shuts down without warning

I’ve been experiencing this issue since a few days ago. No warnings. It’s as if someone suddenly turned off the switch while I’m using my PC.
If I get lucky, I can use the PC for a few minutes but then the problem returns. Most of the time it turns off before even booting properly.
I let it sit in BIOS setup and it turned off, meaning it’s most likely a hardware problem.
I checked and there were no signs of overheating.
Clicking sounds come from my hard drive, though this issue is happening since like a year before the current one.
I’d like to know which hardware is likely faulty.

    Welcome to PCHF Morsheda,

If the computer is a desktop can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

      My PSU is Value-Top VT-S200B.
I can’t download Speccy because my computer just turns off before even booting. Basically, it doesn’t boot anymore.

Update, it doesn’t go past POST anymore. POST screen stays for a few seconds, black screen for a few seconds, POST again, repeat. Fans don’t turn off in this scenario.
Sometimes it just turns off during the POST screen.

You need a new PSU, the Value-Top VT-S200B is without doubt the worst quality PSU that I have ever seen and trust me I’ve seen thousands over the years.

Please provide information about your computer, is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the CPU, MB, the RAM (including the amount) and add on video card if one is used, providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

Sorry about the double replies, I’m on phone.
The motherboard is Gigabyte G4-G41MT-S2P1. Extra info, one of the RAM slits doesn’t work anymore.
As for the others, luckily I found an old screenshot that I downloaded on phone for some reason.

No worries, we understand when you need to use a phone.

As it stands you cannot do anything further until you get a better PSU, even if it means borrowing one so you can do some testing.

So you do not have an add on video card.

Well that`s not good, whatever took out the memory slot could have taken out the board but as said because the present power supply is so bad you cannot do any further troubleshooting atm.

Anyway, what PSU do you suggest? Also considering how old and outdated everything is, is it better to build another one?

We need to know whether or not you have an add on video card before we can recommend any replacement PSU, if you do not have an add on video card a good quality brand 300W PSU would do you but being honest I would try and borrow a PSU first so that you can test your present hardware.

Replacing the whole system will be costly but if that is what you decide let us know and we can help you pick the parts.
