Swapping out power supplies

I plan on getting a Radeon RX 560 for my PC (Optiplex 790) but the power supply that it came from isn’t powerful enough for it, i found a PC for parts that i had laying around in my house that had a “OKIA-450ATX” so maybe i can swap them over? would that work?

Not a good brand, not a true 450W PSU and most certainly not something that I would suggest that you use

There are four different versions of the Dell Optiplex 790, Desktop, Mini tower, Small Form Factor and Ultra Small Form Factor, can you let us know which model it is that you have, the first three use a standard ATX type PSU whereas the USFF uses propriety type which are hard to upgrade as they are a different size and shape + they tend to only be available with minimal power output and no efficiency rating which is a must when there is an add on video card involved.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply, it really does not help any and just makes for unnecessary reading, thanks.

No worries, a lot of people do it

Do you have any links to online computer stores in Mexico, everything that I am finding is on Newegg and ships from the US charging sky high prices for doing so.

Took a look at the info here and unfortunately feel that I am not in a position to make any recommendations, the prices are just too high for anything that I would suggest, best that you can do is see what you can get for your budget, check any reviews that you may be able to find and last of all post a link here and one of us will take a look.

Sorry for the late reply, i’ve been quite busy, but how about these ones?

1.-Acteck R500 Edge
2.-Vorago ATX

Those are the ones that i could find that somewhat adjust to my budget right now

No worries, we all have other things to attend to so understand that you may also be busy.

Honest answer, fully understand that it is not so easy for you to get good quality computer components for a reasonable price but both of those PSUs are junk, I will explain how you can check and confirm this for yourself.

Both of those PSUs claim to be capable of producing 500W, neither can but the one at the second link is the worst of the two.

To work out what the actual power output of a PSU is you multiply by twelve the amount of amps that the PSU has on the +12V rail, you can see the amps information for the Acteck PSU at your link but you cant for the Vorago so I found a better picture for you here just click on it to enlarge it and you will see that it says 22 amps and something like 360W which is also false, so what these two PSUs actually produce;

Acteck = 12 Xs 25 amps which = 300W

Vorago = 12 Xs 22 amps which = 264W.

My best suggestion for you would to be to go for a less power hungry GPU such as a GTX 750 or GTX 750Ti which only require the system to be powered by a stable 300W and 18 amps on the +12V rail.

Yeah i figured that the second one was going to be trash, but oh well.
Regarding the GPU that you recommended me, i’m honestly quite worried since the post claims that it comes from China, is this going to be an issue or something like that?
Thanks in advance

Nevermind, found out it was a fake one.
Luckily my budget grew up and now i have around 180 bucks so i’m thinking of getting these things:
-EVGA 450W
-RADEON 560 4GB

edit: i forgot to actually list them lol

As long as the EVGA PSU is Bronze efficiency rated you will be fine, anything less than Bronze efficiency rated is no good when there is an add on video card present as you need good clean stable power for the GPU which lesser PSUs do not provide.
