I recently bought a new rx 590 to upgrade from a gtx 960. I used DDU in safe mode to remove my nvidia drivers and let ddu do its thing. After it shut off I switched in the rx 590 and turned the pc on. It booted into windows with no issues and was displaying in 720p. After about 5 minutes, when I was looking for amd drivers, the screen switched from 720 to 1080 and then froze. I reset the pc after the freeze and it wouldn’t boot Into windows. It got stuck going into recovery mode. Any ideas what went wrong or how to fix it? I tried 2 different rx 590s multiple times with the same result.

Guessing that this is Windows 10? If so, would suggest when the screen changed from 720 to 1080 that Windows had downloaded and installed drivers for it. You can try starting windows in safe mode, if this works (it will have crappy video in safe mode) the that pretty well tells you it is a driver issue, so remove the driver whilst in safe mode. Then stop Windows from downloading and installing drivers, and get your driver ONLY from AMD website. -
