First Customer Build and won't start

    Hello All,
Like the title says this is my first custom build and I’ve hit a wall and I’m irritated to admit what problem may actually be.

I have done the paper clip test on the PSU and it turned on. I also ran a multimeter test on the motherboard with one ran stick installed and the cpu and motherboard connectors attached. The motherboard appears to be getting power because I’m getting reading from pins 15, 17 and 18, but nothing is turning on when connected. The cpu fan won’t start and the power supply won’t start when connected to the motherboard.

    Build:
Motherboard: msi b450 gaming plus atx
Cpu/cooler: Ryzen 2600 with stock stealth cooler
    PSU:EVA 500W BROZE
    RAM: 2X 4GB DDR VIPER

I have a video card, but haven’t installed yet because of the above issues. Any and all help, suggestions welcomed.

    Hello

Check your stand off’s and make sure the mobo isn’t touching the walls inside the case..

Will do when I reinstall it just to see. But I removed it from the case and tested it on the motherboards box with the PSU connected and still no result.

I am afraid that motherboard is fried/faulty in some way, but I can’t tell. It’s literally brand new just out of the box and I don’t see anything visibly wrong with it

Ok,i didn’t realize you did the cardboard.. So all the connections are tight? If so i were you, use your warranty on that mobo.

When you did the above, how did you try to get the PSU to activate.

Paper clip test. Had the PSU plug up and connected the green wire to one of the ground cable

                    Not how its done when trying to power up the MB, the two ATX power connectors need to be securely connected to the MB, see info and attachment below;

IF your MB doesn`t have a power test switch you will then need to short out the 2 power on pins on the MB header to get the PSU to activate, you can use a small flat bladed screwdriver or a paper clip bent into a U shape, this is perfectly safe if you do not touch anything else.

You are gentlemen and scholar sir! Thank you for educating me on this process. The cpu fan kicked on so I feel better about putting back in the case.

What I need to do now is double check the front panel connectors.

Running into what is common problem from what I read.

When I try to boot I get no display to my monitors and the cpu debug like stays on. I checked my to my make sure my cpu for any bent pens (it there were it wouldn’t sit properly in the socket). My gpu is getting power and tried just booting with gpu disconnected. The last thing I tried before calling it a night was reset the CMOS with the on board button, but no results…

What is the brand and model name or number of the GPU and is it out of the box new.
