Alarm sound on headset when PC turned off.

This is the second time this happens in the month.
When I turn off my PC, using shut down, when the computer light switch off, the headset connected to the PC is doing a really scary alarm sound that keep playing until I turn of the power completely or I restart the computer.

Do you know what could be the cause ?

    I’m guessing EMI (electro-magnetic interference).
what has changed recently - new audio cable or placement?
even when you turned off the PSU, the headphones were still doing it, until the charge in the system dissipated.

I didn’t change any component since I bought the computer 3 years ago. It started to do it twice in the last month, but the location, the components/cables etc nothing changed since. the pc is close to the router and a television (which was always of).

So I guess there is no issue with the pc itself ?

pretty sure your PC is just fine - as fine as they ever are!
when you turn off the PC, if you wait 30 seconds or so, you should hear the ‘alarm’ sound slowly fade away.
so it doesn’t happen every time you shutdown?

Nah, it happens only twice in the last 100 or so shut down.

coincidentally, my shielded audio cables arrived today from Amazon US and I installed it and straight away the ‘humming’ from the speakers when the PC was turned off has stopped.
my money for your issue is still your headphone cable is picking up interference from somewhere.
yes - it is weird it doesn’t happen every shutdown but you can use the same logic that if it was a serious issue with the PC you’d also be seeing it a lot more regularly than just twice a month.

you won’t know how successful you are due to the infrequency of the issue, but try using the front headphone jack and see if the issue re-offends.
