This is my first build. I chose a ASUS Rog Strix B450-F as my mobo, a Zotac Nvidia GTX 1660 as a GPU, a Ryzen 5 1600 as my CPU and a Corsair Veangence DDR4 3GHz (2x8GB) as my RAM. I have a 120GB SSD, and a 2TB HDD as my storage unit. As I finished my build and tried turning it on, it didn’t work. No fans spinning, nothing. Only the motherboard RGB LED was running, which is always running, even if the PC isn’t on. I tried removing the GPU, one and both sticks of RAM, even the storage units. It didn’t work, I ebb eventually tried removing everything from the case and building the PC on the motherboard box… It still doesn’t turn on! I quadruple checked the connections, everything’s right. Just something’s wrong! I don’t even POST! No beeps no nothing, like I didn’t even try turning it on! What can I do?

Did you remove the plastic film tat was on the CPU?
Did you remove the plastic film from the heat sink?
Applies the proper amount of thermal paste?
Used the proper risers for the motherboard?
What is the make and model of the power supply and how old is it?
What color is the LED on the motherboard when it is lit? -
Hello, thanks for the quick reply! I did do all of those above steps correctly, there was no plastic film on the CPU. The LED has a correct RGB sliding pattern, and I have a Corsair TX550M (550W) PSU.Originally posted by RustysComment

The motherboard has four LEDs on it to help with troubleshooting, see attachment below, do any of these light up at all.
Check to see if your PSU powers up, the video here shows you how to check a Corsair PSU.Comment

Yeeeaaaa, all the wires on the power supply are black… can’t do the test! And when I short the contacts of the “Power SV” pins, nothing happens, not ONE thing, no LEDs aside from the RGB LED, which isn’t there for troubleshooting reasons.Comment

Connect only the 24 pin and the 8 pin ATX connectors to the MB then carefully short out the two pins that are shown in the attachment below, this is perfectly safe as long as you do not touch anything else.Comment

So, here’s what happened:
I took the CPU off to see if it is ok, and I saw a bent pin, and a pin missing. I successfully bent the pins back, and placed the CPU back inside, hoping that it would at least work without 1 pin. I plugged the power supply cables back in, but no lights. Not even the light RGB LED for design. It’s like the motherboard isn’t getting power… everything is like it was before! I retested the PSU with a paperclip, it works. What’s happened now?Comment

Are the parts still under warranty?
If yes then get in contact with them and see about RMA’ing the parts.
Other wise from the sounds of it the Motherboard and the CPU should be replaced.Comment

Suggests that the MB is bad and possibly shorted out by the bent pin/s, good luck with any warranty claim, you may need it is as the merchant/s that sold you the CPU/MB may claim that the components were incorrectly assembled.Originally posted by TheMatrixAgentComment
