Apologies for the delay, not been around for a couple of days http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/publi...efault/sad.png

Russ is correct, this should be put right under warranty so care should be taken not to void any warranty by opening up the case.

As an asides Xenoks, I`m really not sure how come a discontinued PSU has come to have been used in the computer, if you are sure that you have the correct PSU details that is the first thing you should take up with whoever built the computer.[/IMG]

I’ll have to recheck my receipt and packaging when I can, I don’t understand why a PSU that was discounted years ago would be used with my PC, so I’ll make sure I didn’t get anything wrong or check the wrong packaging and update this thread after that.

I looked around where the boxes of my PC parts were stored, and the only other PSU I could find any packaging or receipts of is a Chieftec A80, which I’m assuming isn’t really better at all considering it’s made by the same company and is an earlier product

This is something that you really have to take up with whoever built the computer for you, fwiw, any merchant that is prepared to use such garbage is a disgrace

Yeah I’ll definitely have to contact them about it and hopefully get a replacement sometime soon

I hope that’d at least solve my boot issue, since nothing else seems wrong with my PC or OS at all

If such a bad PSU has been used it should be replaced in any event and until it has been there is no way of knowing.

How would I go about finding a replacement? The store I got my PC from wouldn’t be a good place to ask because of obvious reasons, and I don’t know many people who could help me with finding a suitable replacement

You should not be taking this on yourself to put right, you have paid good money and have a warranty so I suggest that you use it, even if it is to get the merchant to send you a better and more appropriate quality and brand of PSU that you swap in yourself, if you start tinkering inside the computer you will void your warranty altogether and none of your hardware will be covered.

I didn’t realise that. I’ll get to it when I can (which should be in a week or so, hopefully) and update this thread then. I’ll try and contact them about it the first chance I get.

No updates yet, I opted to just not shut down my PC overnight until I get a new PSU.
