Graphics Card Problem (i think)

my first post so will try to sound like i know what im doing

I have an AMD FX 8350 4.2Ghz 1tb 8gb 1600Mhz GTX 1050TI 4gb used with 4k pc monitor.
Turned pc on this morning, sounded fine booting up but no display, i switched back to my old monitor and still no display.
after speaking to a friend he suggested removing the g/card and plugging into onboard hdmi port, did that but still no display using the 4k monitor but i plugged back in my old monitor and everything works fine.
Obviously i want to use the 4k monitor so would it be an issue with the graphics card or power supply ?
also, not sure if it helps or not but the power light on the 4k monitor flashes now when i try to use it (never did that before)

Other information that may help other help you.

Does the old monitor work on the display card?
With out knowing the power supply information can not say.
Age of the parts?
Might try resetting the monitor back to factory?
Do you have another system to connect the 4K monitor to and see if you get a picture?

just reset the 4k monitor after hrs of trying grrr and it now works via the onboard slot so i think problem solved, it must be the graphics card

reading reviews it seems the 1050 ti 4gb although can handle 4k, it doesnt seem overly keen doing so, so i guess time to upgrade it

thanks for the help though, it got me trouble shooting, although issue isnt fixed atleast i know now what the issue is

Glad to heat that progress has been made.

What is the make and model and age of the power supply currently in the system it may not be powerful enough for that card.
