I5 quad core
12 gb ram
1gb nvidia graphics
What I want to know is what power supply should I use when installing an Nvidia 740 GT ddr3 128 bit video card

What power supply does your current system have? You would need at minimum a 400 watt power supply but it depends on what power supply you have in your system that will determine if you need to swap it out with a better unit.

400W with a minimum of 20 amps on the +12V rail, the cost of an appropriate 400W PSU means that they are not a good financial option and you would be better to go for a 500W unit, examples of both here and here
