    USB Card Issues

I purchased an Inateck usb card to improve my tracking for oculus rift and I recently figured out that it was the source of my frame lag in game. Simply having the card installed into the pcie slot dropped frames while playing to unplayable levels. I can’t really find anything related to my situation online so this is pretty much my last resort. As it stands right now I can either lag and have really good tracking or not lag and have mediocre tracking.

if it matters my specs are:
    Ryzen 5 2600x
    X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING
    gigabyte windforce oc 1060 3gb
    evga supernova g2 850 W
    Running on Windows 10

Rules prevent me from linking external forums, but Google is your friend. There is a thread out there called “My Oculous Rift is lagging” on the OculusVR forums. The guy had the same issues and specs as you.

Here’s a summary of what was said:
      • USB 2.0 will compress and lower your resolution and framerate.
      • Inateck USB expansions are problematic, some Startech expansions are better.
      • Inateck 4-port USB expansion is supposedly better than other Inateck expansions.
      • 1060 3GB is “low-end” for the Oculus, and a 1070 8GB is recommended.

So, I did get the 4 port inateck card. I’ve also confirmed it’s not a performance issue with my pc. The only game I play in VR is beat saber which uses <50% of my gpu and 50% max of my cpu. I’m also not using anything in USB 2.0 regarding the rift. idk if there are any settings or if the pcie slot matters for the card.

And no USB splitters, right? You may want to get in touch with Oculus. Or if you think your Inateck card was DOA, you may want to get a replacement while you can, assuming you bought it recently with a return/exchange policy.

Return window passed unfortunately. Something happened recently and tracking is just awful in general. It’s seriously amazing how inconsistent oculus tracking is.

Yeah, I’ve heard some particularly awful things about Oculus. Have you installed the most recent Inateck drivers from the product’s official support site? Are your Nvidia graphics drivers up-to-date? Are you using GeForce Experience?

Pretty sure I installed the drivers when I got the card although I don’t have the card installed right now. Everything is up to date and yeah I’m using geforce experience.

I’m hoping once I upgrade my gpu that somehow solves my issues.

Some people claim GeForce Experience causes some extra input lag and lesser framerate, but I personally haven’t experienced that.

Barring that, I don’t know what else I can say about the issue. Hopefully it’s as simple as needing better GPU performance. Good luck.

Nope. Issue still persists and I am not using the card anymore.

I’ve been wanting to try it again but haven’t found the time yet because I’ve been really busy with school.

If you still want to, I can walk you through some stress testing on your parts.

Any failure of these stress tests will indicate a faulty component.
