PC basically gets bricked during any major HDD activity

Need help diagnosing why my RAM usage is so high and why Chrome becomes unresponsive and fails to load sites during HDD activity.

Chrome is eating up a huge chunk of my memory. There is only 1 Chrome window with 1 Netflix tab open here.
Bethesda Launcher is eating up just as much memory while installing a game.

This somehow affects my page load speed and responsiveness as well. Netflix quality stays at 1080p but freezes during disk activity spikes. I’m able to open new tabs in Chrome, but the page (ie. PCHF) never loads until the disk activity stops or slows down. Why does HDD activity prevent pages from loading?

Chrome naturally chews memory. Have you tried Firefox?

I did for a bit last year, it gave me bigger memory issues. The bigger issue is that my computer mainly locks up during any heavy HDD activity.

        Hi lkjk.

Lets see what is starting up with your machine.

Please download Autoruns. After you download the zipped folder on your desktop, right click the zipped folder and click Extract All. After the folder has been extracted open the regular folder. Run the autoruns.exe program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator. When you open the program, click the Logon Tab and then post a screenshot of all the startup entries on the Logon Tab in your next reply.
