    PC RAM SLOT CHANGE

Hi all, I built my pc back in April with 8gb of ram, everything was fine ordered 16gb of ram today as an upgrade so replaced the ram in the correct slots, but when I tried to start BIOS only recognised 8gb, so I took each ram stick out and tried them in slot B1 one stick wouldn’t do any thing, tried the next and it started up as it should with single 8gb stick, so I replaced the other stick in the ram slot that had originally held the ram stick that worked slot B2 (essentially incase I made that sound confusing I swapped the ram sticks eg ram1 in slot 1 was changed to slot 2 and vice versa) and this worked it now shows yup as all 16gb installed so I am wondering if this is something to be concerned about that one stick would not work in a specific slot, or if it can be common for this to happen.

    THANKS

Hi there, mother board is Asus ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING the ram I initially had was CORSAIR VENGENCE LPX CMK8GX4M2B3000C15, I then upgraded to CORSAIR VENGANCE LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15, I did check the initial ram compatibly so assumed the step up in memory size would just be fine, as I said it works now I just found it strange that I had to swap the ram stick/slots to get it to work.

Well it is still working fine, i did try just to test swapping the ram sticks around and it would only pick up 8gb again, so I guess I just have either picky ram or mobo so il just leave it as is instead of returning and hope there isn’t a problem down the line.
