Hey, so i’ve been using a gaming notebook for a while now and i want to upgrade to a desktop PC but upon searching for parts etc.. I was thinking; Could I take the m.2 SSD from this laptop and put it into a new PC and run the same windows from that? I get that It wouldn’t be that simple; I would probably still have to wipe that ssd and boot windows from a USB or something, but would I still have to pay for a new copy of windows (My laptop had windows pre-installed)
Can I transfer my widows boot SSD to a new PC without having to buy windows again?

You dont say what version of windows if its win 10 its very good at finding new drivers and hardware so there is a good chance it will boot and work but the only way to be sure is to do it. You need to copy the drive first assuming your going to keep using the laptop. So you would clone the drive to a new one on the laptop first then give it a try. It almost certainly no activate so you will have to buy a new key from MS -
