What RAM is in my computer?

Having just installed a new Geforce 1050 Ti video card, I now find it necessary to upgrade other components.
I am therefore in the process of getting quotes for a new motherboard and CPU. My operating system is Windows 7.
I need to determine what RAM I have. It is easy to find that I have 8Gb of RAM, but how do I determine if it is DDR3 or DDR4?

    Hello

You can try this software to determine that… PassMark RAMMon - Identify RAM type, speed & memory timings

Speccy being a good example of misreporting some values, if you really wanted ‘to be sure, to be sure’ you have to open the case and physically check the mobo near the RAM slots, it may have embossed DDR3 or DDR4 writing there, or better yet, remove a RAM chip and read the sticker.

it’s always best to go straight to the source if you can.

Great stuff guys. Thanks vger for that fast, no hassle software. It immediately showed that I have DDR3 8Gb.
And Bruce, thank you also. I will be doing that check. In fact I am getting DDR4 16 Gb in the new spec.

Within reason 8gb ram should be ample for the system and graphics card, in fact unless you are running a 64 bit version of Windows then you can’t even use the full 8GB you already have.

Gus, that is probably also true, but I am going to go all out and get the 16Gb as I am sick of messages that say my system isn’t compatible. You might need to know that the reason for the upgrade is that I have purchased Far Cry 5. Everyone needs to know that there are no free lunches if you do this.
ie. Buy the game and get ready to upgrade.
