Blank blue screen and nothing else

Hi,

My PC was working fine yesterday, then my girlfriend wasn’t thinking and just switched the power off using the power button at the back (or maybe front, no sure which one). Since then the power button at the front seems to be kind of stuck pushed down and the PC then wouldn’t power on at all unless I pull the PSU plug out then put it back in again and even then it would only power up and fans spin for like 1 second.

So I Googled the problem and did this:

Solution:

1. Disconnect all power cables and monitor cables
2. Pull out all the ram from each of their ram slots (n.b make sure you put it back in the same order aswell)
3. There is a button type battery located somewhere on the motherboard, have a look for it and simply pull or pop it out.
4. Flip the battery upside down and put it back into the motherboard
5. Put all the ram back into their slots in the same order you took them out
6. Push the power button and keep pushing the power button continuously until you hear the hdd and other stuff kick it (push it maybe 5-10 or so times)
7. The cpu should hold out and you should hear the beep and the computer should load something where it prompts you to continue or setup (the usual stuff)
8. Press the button that says continue. In my case i have an AMD and it said “press F1 to continue”

This solution now means the power stays on and it loads with one loud beep and the keyboard and mice are lit up like they are on and active and the monitor (my tv) comes on but I just get a completely blank blue screen and not a BSOD. Tried F10 and others on the keyboard but nothing happens, stays a blank blue screen.

Anyone have any ideas?

We got given this PC and it was bought pre-built from somewhere but the guy we got it from can’t find the email from the website they bought it from that shows all the parts etc.

I just removed the fan and heatsink from the CPU and the processor is stuck attached to the heatsink, so I can’t see exactly what CPU it is.
What made and model is your computer? Don’t know, doesn’t look like it has a make and model.

RAM: Transcend 8GB DDR3
Motherboard make and model: it says FM2/FM2+ and DDR3 on it, plus anti-surge, humidity and ESD protection on it. Think it’s ASUS or AMD?
OS: Windows 10

Too late now but there was no need to do this and doing so is not good i`m afraid as the CPU being pulled from the socket may have bent or snapped one or more pins, the CPU cooling fan should have a label on it stating the brand and model name or number, if yes, post the info so we check the specs and assembly instructions, we are hoping that is possible to be able to get the CPU back in the socket still attached to the CPU, if not you are going to have to try and get the CPU detached from the bottom of the HS and without scratching the surface of the CPU or HS, doing this will also require the present thermal compound to be properly cleaned off using an appropriate cleaner such as 99% pure alcohol and then a fresh amount of thermal compound correctly re-applied.

Look closer for any other information on the board, we need the info to check the specs to see if it has integrated video capabilities etc.

Replace the power button. Since it is stuck.
You might be able to take it out and clean it that may get it to unstuck.
Would take care of that first.

That doesn’t seem possible, as it’s really tough to get to, if not impossible.

I have detached the CPU from the HS and cleaned with alcoholic wipe the paste off the CPU and HS. The CPU pins seem fine and I have thermal paste to reattach it. I have pictures of all the internal parts now, if you need that and I have just posted updated info with all the internal part brand names and model numbers. It must have built in video capabilities, as there’s no graphics card in the slot?

Just looked, pretty sure the CPU has built in GPU and I think it has this built in graphics:

That doesn’t seem possible, as it’s really tough to get to, if not impossible.

With the power button stuck in the down position it is possibility constantly sending a signal to the Motherboard.

Some can be replace other you have to replace the face plate of the desktop.

I’ll try but I already disconnected the power switch wire that attaches to the motherboard and instead turn the power on with a pin placed where the power switch wire usually goes, so surely this isn’t the main issue?

When you you use this method is the outcome the exact same as you described in your OP;

the power stays on and it loads with one loud beep and the keyboard and mice are lit up like they are on and active and the monitor (my tv) comes on but I just get a completely blank blue screen
