My monitor is LG M2780D, 27 inch, resolution 1920x1080. The video card I’m looking to get is GTX 980 Ti. Card’s Maximum Digital Resolution 5120x3200. Maximum VGA Resolution 2048x1536. Can I still achieve resolutions above 1920x1080 or do I need to upgrade to a different monitor?
Btw, Nvidia’s site says GTX 980 Ti VGA Resolution 2048x1536 but there’s no VGA port on the card’s interface… or do they mean if I’m using a monitor with VGA?

If your monitors maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 then that is the maximum resolution that can be displayed on it. Both DVI and VGA can display that resolution but it’s preferable to use a DVI cable connection where possible.
Shame my current LG monitor can’t do higher resolutions. It’s got AV INPUTS/OUTPUTS. Good if I one day want to connect VHS player. But my goal is maxing out Crysis’ graphics capabilities or close to it, so I will be looking for a 4K monitor. Thank you gus, phillpower2.
