currently have i5 7500 @3.4ghz it says it can be turbo boosted to 3.8ghz ive checked bios and turbo boost is enabled both task manager and cpu z only show it running at 3.4ghz, i also have my power options set to high performance currently have z270 gaming m3 msi motherboard i just want turbo boost so i can run star wars battlefront 2 better.
~update~ in task manager it says the max for my cpu is 3.41ghz however i can still change my cpu speed up to 3.8ghz in bios (i would still however like a fix for this turbo boost thing)
Hi Ben.
“Turbo Boost” is an automatic feature in Intel processors that have the feature.
If your CPU can boost and it needs to, it will.
You don’t have to activate it.
I downloaded a turbo boost monitor and found that it had the green energy saver thing there, even though i have turbo boost enabled and high performance mode on, and so far the only way i can increase my cpu’s ghz is to overclock it which is really annoying.
Overclocking a non K processor is not advised as it can make your system unstable. Big chance of frying the chip.
I downloaded the monitor and it does work. Just have to catch it at the right moment.
Turbo boost only works momentarily, not continuous.
When the boost stops, the energy saver shows.

Overclocking a non-K Skylake processor is not recommended and hard to get a stable system.
This is because you are playing the system base clock instead of using frequency multiplier, which is locked on non-K.
If you do something to the base clock, everything else (other components) will be affected.
