'99 Fujitsu Drive Non-Accessible?

Hey everyone,
I bought this cheap IDE to USB 2.0 adapter on eBay to read data off of old IDE hard disks I have. It worked great for my 20gb IBM Travelstar drive from 2001, and it worked great for my 120gb WD Caviar drive from 2003. However, when I went to read stuff from my 13.02gb Fujitsu drive from 1999, it just did a loud spin up and sounded like the heads were trying to read something, but then it just stayed spinning and my computer didn’t detect it even though I had it connected the same was as I had the other 2 IDE drives. I unplugged it and played around with the jumper, and set it to all of the different jumper settings listed on the HDD label, to no avail. It also didn’t show up in Disk Management or Device Manager. Does anyone know how I can retrieve data off of this drive? Or does it seem like it’s failed?

The awful noise and the drive not being recognised does not look good I`m afraid

You say that the drive is from 1999, do you know what is on the drive and how long ago was the said data last accessed.

Not all USB adapters work with all hard drives. I have an old one that doesn’t recognize certain drives (old desktop and laptop) so I ended up buying a different model.

If you know anyone that owns a different brand USB adapter, borrow it and see if the hard drive is recognized.

I have that same adapted and anything HDD wise before 2000 it has issues reading them.

Do not know if you tried one thing you might try is connecting to to a system that has PATA (formally known as E/IDE) and see if the system can read it in BIOS then it may be readable by the system.
