Screen freeze within 2/3 minutes of Pc switched on.

For some reason Im getting a screen freeze every morning I switch on,happens within about 2 to 3 minutes. Two or more attempts will not get it going, then all of a suden its up and running without a glich!!
At one stage I tried a restore in safe mode,it froze!
using misconfig,I have cut my start programmes to only thiose necessary to operate windows,I use Windows defender and Windows Firewall for Virus and malware protection.
Full scans using Defender, and superantispyware(held in background not active) show no infection.
Windows “Repair computer” comes up negative.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
It took 1/2hr this morning to become stable, now its runing like adream?

In Windows XP, Vista and 7 Defender does not protect you against malware attack only spyware, Defender in Windows 8.1 and 10 is the equivalent of Microsoft Security essentials and does offer real time protection, basically at present you have no AV protection running, we should sort this first.

Uninstall AVG using the proper removal tool from here once AVG has been uninstalled download MSE from here allow it to check for updates, scan your computer then post back please.

          No traces of AVG found.
During attempt to download MSE following error code appeared
“An error occurred while copying file Nis DRVWFP.sys, cannot copy file to Directory.”

MSE continued to run, should I continue and ignore error?

Attempted to continue install of MSE which completed and went into update mode.
Another error code came up stating"The virus and spyware definations did NOT update on 23/7/2017 because of Internet or Connectivity problems"
At the moment MSE is scanning.
            INternet connection checks out 100%?

MSE carried out Full scan (2hrs) no infections found…however MSE will not let me activate Real Time protection,PC is shown at RISK.Attempted screen shot for you but even that failed!
              So to update,no AVG remnants.
during downlaod of MSE error message “An error occurred while copying file Nis DRVWFP.sys, cannot copy file to Directory.”
Ignoring this MSE continued to installl, but as stated will not allow real time protection…advice please. Thanks

Lets see what is present that could be tripping MSE up, download/run then post an Autoruns log for us, see here

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.

                  2: Double-click the “Autoruns.exe”.

3: Click on the "Hide Signed Microsoft and Windows Entries” option.

4: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.

5: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop > when you click on File > Save you will then get the option to Save as type, click the drop down tab, change it to Text and then click the Save button.

6: Attach to your next reply.

                  Tutorial here

HI First may I thank you for your time in attempting to unravell my problem,Second, try as I might I could not get Autoruns to display as you requested.I ended up with about 4 zipped autoruns, extracting did not produce an Autoruns exe???/Really wasnt for the want of trying, but failed miserably…perhaps if you took a simplier route>>>Cheers Derek

How are you extracting the files from the zipped file.

Right click on zipped,Select “Extraxt all”…other folder appears with extracted material, getting that one open (Afterdawn) OK, but it opens into Ad’s by reimage /download repair Windows/etc so not quite certian which direction to take?
