Have enabled the Admin account and all the basics seem to be working well - certainly quicker than my profile usually is (although that does vary a lot)

OK. Now have a new profile and successfully (I think) copied all my settings to that profile. It took about 8 hours to transfer 66GB! But that new profile is definitely operating faster than the old one. Presumably I should now delete the old profile. If I do that from the Control Panel will that remove everything that is extraneous or will I need to run a cleaning programme as well?
Most of that 66GB was the Documents folder and virtually all of that was my Samsung Galaxy Kies/SmartSwitch (40GB). If I move that onto the External Hard Drive will the sync, backup etc process still work OK.Comment

I would personally wait a couple of days to make sure that everything is working ok before I delete the old profile. When you are ready, then type user in the start search area, then manage another account then delete that user.
Are you happy with all the results here, and would you consider this issue resolved.?Comment

I use Outlook quite extensively for email, contacts, calendar etc. That does not seem to have migrated. Outlook wasn’t mentioned in the list of items under the profile name. Can I find it somewhere else and migrate that too?Comment

Thanks. I’ll try that.
I now find that I’m being asked for Product Keys for Word, Excel etc in the new profile. Not sure I have those anymore! It seems I can alter any document or spreadsheet that I already have saved but am asked for the Product Key if I open a new page etc.Comment

Outlook now working fine - everything transferred.
Actually all the Microsoft Office progs also seem to be working OK now without demanding Product Keys etc. Don’t know why that happened - passwords must still have been finding their way…
Thank you Malnutrition for your patience and helping me sort out this rather old PC
