Will files be copy-proof in the future?

Will it be possible to prevent the copying of files (whether encrypted or not) in the future? I accept that this might require technological advancements not yet available. Also, there may be fundamental reasons why such protection could never happen, period. Even so, knowing what these reasons are would still be helpful. Thanks in advance.

PS. Prevention of file copying already exists, of course - e.g. proprietorial DVDs etc. Nevertheless, they can still be copied with the right means. Instead, I’d like to know if a “global” solution might still be theoretically possible, one as forever unbreakable as (say) the one-time pad encryption?
