Ever since I’ve been using Mcafe and Kaspersky, the problem is they slow down my computer. Can anyone suggest what perfect anti-virus I need for Dell E5470 Latitude?

if you are running Windows 10, the inbuilt Defender security is now as good as any of the paid-for guys.
check out https://www.av-comparatives.org/ , it scores as high any AV software.
I ditched my Nortons about 3 months ago when the renewal came up, and so far Defender as been just fine.
(I still can’t quiet believe I can say that now, after all the years when Defender/MSE was crap)Comment

There is never going to be a perfect anti-virus solution, but you can get close.
I personally use ESET Internet Security + Zemana Premium + Malwarebytes and my system is fast, stable, and secure. I also practice safe browsing habits, which is one of the best preventive measures you can takeComment

That question is like saying whats the best brand of car. There is no such thing as a perfect anti-virus, but some surfing habits are better than others. I ditched Defender recently and installed on one of my Win 10 machines Bitdefender, which is quite nice and fast as well. Also use Zemana as a second opinion scanner.
Here’s a reliable comparison site to check out too. HEREComment

as hinted at already, just don’t stop at AV software, it’s all about layered protection now.
as well as MS Defender, I have the MVPS HOSTS file, MBAM Premium, SpywareBlaster and uBlock Origin.
you can go overkill, but that setup works for me.
but despite all efforts, one day your PC will get hit - your saving grace is and will always be, a trusted and proven backup regime.Comment

AV’s only play a small part, compared to all the threats out there.
The more risks you take, the greater level of layered protection one needs.
Especially, going to dodgy sites and downloading from torrent sites.
So many in their excitement, just click “Next” “Next” without bothering to read what extras they are downloading.
Responsible surfing is most important.
I run backup clones regular, on every computer I have.
Clones are good insurance, disconnected of course.Comment

What OS are you running? If you are running Win 10,this could be an issue and since you are experiencing a slow down with your pc. Here is the link on McAfee software and it’s incompatibility issues with Win 10. McAfee Customer Service -- Official SiteComment

Use the free av built into Windows, Windows Defender.
Add a free malware detector: Malwarebytes.
To me, a paid malware detector is much more important than an av program.
MBAM includes, exploit protection, website protection (you can’t go to questionable sites because it will block you and alert you to the block, which you can over ride), ransomeware protection and of course, malware protection.Comment
