    Malwarebytes V3

Have used Malwarebytes as a second opinion scanner for ages and they have recently released V3 of their premium and free security scanners. I’m too tight to buy it and only require the free one anyway, very nice interface and the updates work so much faster than the old one.

I’ve tested it on a few new malware pieces already, it didn’t fare well. I’m glad they’re using the term “AV Replacement” rather than “AV”, because they are far behind the curve.

They’ve combined a bunch of features under one program, but their definitions are as lackluster as they were under Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I personally hope they pull through, I do use their on-demand scanner on my Android phone, but I haven’t put Malwarebytes on a host PC for a while now.

HitmanPro.Alert is well worth the money. Zemana is good too, however they’ve made some questionable changes to their software lately.

Hi Alkajak. One thing I discovered about Malwarebytes which was not the case with V2 is that when you right click a file to use MB to scan a file/folder it closes the interface when you click close on it, but it remains active in the taskbar requiring another action to actually close the app. Unless there’s a fix coming up for that it will be a deal breaker for me.

I don’t think anyone could say that ony one scanner will pick up every threat and I use several second opinion scanners including Zemana. I had an issue with my license with the latest version and when contacted Zemana were brilliant.

Wow, I did not know that about MB3, Gus. I tried out the context scan, but I did not try closing the window before it had completed it. If that really is the case, they dropped the ball on that feature.

Zemana customer service is top notch for sure. They just need to listen to the users a little bit more closely. Their latest decision to eliminate “deep scan” and force a manual custom scan instead was questionable, but the security is still all there.

Personally, I’ve noticed a trend with all the different scanners, and I think everyone should be using a couple, not just one. I’ve noticed EEK is great at finding corrupt/infected registries, which Zemana and MB don’t pick up nearly as well. HMP is great at picking up tracking cookies. ZAM is great at picking up hollow processes. They each have their little forte, and I make sure to use each one during cleanup.

I have a lifetime licence so I downloaded the new version, I noticed two things, one that it would disable protection itself & two it corrupts the user profile (so far once with me) requiring a logging off & on again.

I’ve been reading the forums over at Malwarebytes and version 3 seems to be plagued by tons of issues and bugs. It also seems like from the reviews that I’ve seen on YouTube that their detection rate has gone vastly downhill. What a shame.

Only ever used it as 2nd or 3rd opinion scanner so I didn’t stress too much, besides the price is ok if you look at my earlier pics..
