Is TestOut Equivalent to CompTIA A+ Cert?

Hi everyone I am currently attending Independence University for Networking & Computer Infrastructure Security. They use TestOut for all of their certifications, I was wondering if testout is equivalent and as accepted as CompTIA’s certifications. I looked on the TestOut website and one bad thing I noticed was that their certifications are not accredited like CompTIA’s. So has anyone used TestOut and was it acceptable, or would you suggest I also take CompTIA’s certs?
