Ok, so done some speed tests this afternoon. Looking at the results that seem better than previous, I think I’m just seeing the inherent issues with powerline networking. Im using AV600 units, that have a 100Mbps ethernet port, so that’s 1 limit there already.

    FTTC Connection 80/20

    Sync at 74.5/19.9

Connection speed of powerline units to router approx. 120mbps.

    Laptop Speed test Main Router
    Wireless 62mbps
    Wired 65mbps

Laptop Speed test Main router using Powerline Main House
    48mbps

Laptop Speed test Main Router Using powerline in conservatory
    25mbps

    Phone Speed Main house
    67mbps

    Phone Speed Conservatory
    64mbps

Also the laptop im using is quite old from around 2008 or 09. Its only got an older Realtek FE ethernet controller with a 100mbps port.
My sons PC is connected via a powerline and hes getting at least 60mbps, but his laptop is relatively new with a gigbit port etc.

in reality I dont think there is much more I can do, with the limitations I have unless I go and purchase a mesh system, which for my needs I think is overkill.

i might just change the 2nd router SSID and just uise that for connection to the printer and roku box.

      Ok a couple of things.
      No apologies needed.
From what you explain I understand that the conservatory is on it’s own line.

The point I am trying to make is you do not put the AV600 in the conservatory.
Your house will have different power circuits.
      Example:
A circuit breaker or fuse for lights.
A circuit breaker or fuse (more than 1) for power points in the home itself - NOT the conservatory.
What you need to do is in a room that is close to the conservatory that is on the same power breaker as to where the main router is plugged into.
That is where you put the AV600. You then plug the second modem router into that.
When a house is wired for power points they normally have 3- 4 rooms where the power is looped from one power point to another.
That is why when one fuse blows you loose power to more than 1 room.
So the Tv room and the study and bedroom can all be on the same fuse line.
They are looped from one power point to the other.

Does this make it any clearer?
