    Networking old ssd

Hi I have purchased a new laptop and wish to network my old laptop secondary 2.5 inch SSD drive with all my data/files.

I would like to have an enclosure of sorts that can sit next to my router accessible as say a β€œG” drive on my new laptop.

I will fit a second M.2 drive to my new new laptop but would like to keep the other separate.

Is there an easy option or if someone can recommend a kit I would be most grateful

    TIA Eddie

Does your router/modem have a USB slot, if yes, you can put the old SSD into an external USB enclosure and connect it that way.
Then within the router/modem config menu, you can share it out over the network.

If the modem/router doesn’t have a USB port, your next option would be to get a Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit that takes either 2.5", or 3.5, or both drive sizes.

      Hi Bruce
thanks very much for you reply. I will try the USB option if not the NAS, which is a bit expensive.

Yeah, NAS’s have always been on the expensive side.
I’ve only used Netgear, Dlink, and Synology units, and can vouch for them.
        There maybe cheaper alternatives.
