network discovery issue

i have 4 computers on my home network ( named for convenience A..B..C..D )
file sharing is on for all of them and they are set to ’ public ’ and are in the same workgroup
the problem:
They can all see one another excet D cant see A ( A can see D )
so everything is fine? except D cant see A
A can be pinged from D so it knows its there

A and B are win10
C is win7
D is xp pro

there were no probs till i upgraded A to win10 from win7

any info gratefully appreciated
