Hit Windows key + X and click Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right click the wireless adapter and click Uninstall.
reboot the PC and it’ll reload the driver, see if that helps.

To add what Bruce has said if it is not listed while in Device Manager
        Click on View
        Select Show Hidden Devices

Is this a desktop or Laptop?

Answer each question in one post you do NOT need to create a separate post for each question.

you may need to go into the setting/options to turn that on and what do you mean by crashes?

You would be better off getting an internal card these are cheap and low powered.

Does the network crash if connected via CAT cable?

if the wifi is actually working but you just can’t see the system tray icon, it could be as simple as the wireless adapter notification is turned off.

right click on the taskbar > Taskbar Settings > Select which icons appear on the taskbar > slide the switch to On to always show all icons.
go back a level and click Turn system icons on or off, make sure the Network icon is On.

No problem what @Bruce states should take care of the icon missing.

Is there a triangle looking near where the icon should be you might click on that and see if it is located there. Some times windows groups them together.
