PC started to have Router connectivity problems

Fairly old win 10 PC up to date ref cumulative releases exhibits bizarre behaviour depending on which WiFi dongle attached.
    a) existing Dual Band USB adaptor stopped connecting to home router (up to date Fritz.Box 7362 SL) shows some neighborhood routers as being available but home doesn’t show up. There cannot be a problem with the router as there are many other devices connecting with no problem . This PC has been in happy connection to this router for some years.
I have reinstalled dongle from CD and nothing. Troubleshooting comes up with message that β€œyou haven’t tried to connect to a router”.
Device Manager shows my router on info page when i tab on available devices but it doesn’t show when I look at network connections.
    1. Edimax 150Mbps which I from a Pi finds and connects to my home router but loses connection after 2-3 minutes. Troubleshooting finds problem and corrects but connection breaks

What can I do. I have read a thread today from Pablo white which sounds similar but different.

I would prefer to run a tool to correct if one exists. I would like to avoid inputting a series of commands. But will if nothing else

    What is recommendation

    Thanks

Many thanks for taking an interest. I experimented with different WLAN dongles. Edimax connected but lost contact. I reinstalled, connected disconnected Then at one time I had two different dongles installed and then yesterday the problem dongle finally connected and I still don’t know why. It has remained connected with no problems

I will advise if it fails again. Oh

I have just seen your enquiry. I really appreciate you following this up. I will reply tomorrow because although I can connect, there is a weird problem which doesn’t make sense. More tomorrow

              No worries (y)

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as I have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed, thanks.

To avoid us having to ask for an update every couple of days we will close this thread until Josl47 has the time available to work towards resolving the issue, PM a member of staff when you are ready.
